{Disarmed} Android 12 comes by surprise to these two Xiaomi "Pro" launched a couple of years ago
We did not see this turn of events coming. As is already the case with many others , Xiaomi is reviewing the catalog and updating many terminals to Android 12 that did not even expect this type of review.
And which are they? The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max – not to be confused with the ' Pro ' model, less ambitious but much cheaper – and the POCO M2 Pro , a successful clone of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S that did not reach all territories.
Android 12 on the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and POCO M2 Pro
Launched in China during 2020 , these two mobiles had the Snapdragon 720G processor, the same 6.67-inch screen and had MIUI 11 under Android 10. Now, as indicated by XiaoMIUI , both are receiving internal tests on Android 12 , which leads us to think that sooner or later they will make this leap.
It should be noted that the internal tests have been carried out on the global models, an extra reason to be optimistic about these two very similar mobiles —almost identical, except for the amount of RAM and the camera of each one, since the Redmi Note 9 Pro bet by a 64 MP f / 1.9 main sensor, while the POCO M2 Pro opted for a 48 MP f / 1.8 sensor.
It is somewhat strange, since none of these models have received internal MIUI 13 updates based on Android 11, so there is a possibility that it will skip Android 11 and jump directly to Android 12 . As usual, in about six months we will find out, since it is the standard time between when a new ROM or customization layer is tested internally and ends up being officially distributed.
