{Disarmed} After many years traveling this is everything I have learned about tolls, whether to avoid them and what their prices are at all times
I love to travel, and I always do it by road with all that that implies. Go through tolls, compare routes and even use different browsers. Today I am going to tell you everything I have learned to find out if it is worth avoiding the tolls on the route and calculate how much the journey will cost.
Waze, the driver's ultimate weapon
Although there are many experiences and opinions among the different browsers, Waze for me is the best when traveling , however, I prefer Google Maps for short trips around the city .
Many don't know it, but when we enter an address for Waze to take us to it, the app not only calculates a single route, but it calculates approximately three and takes them into account depending on the circumstances that we come across while we go on the way to the destination.
Before clicking " Go " to start navigation to the destination, a message will appear showing the total cost of the tolls , this is usually very precise, as much or more than the gasoline prices offered within the app, which is logical considering how often oil prices fluctuate. To save on gasoline it is always better to use specific apps.
Taking all factors into account is the key.
To know the alternative routes, including some that do not include tolls, we must click on the " Routes " button that appears after having entered a destination. You must be quick, since this menu appears a few seconds before the route instructions start.
The information shown in the route preview gives us many clues. Kilometers, time, incidents on the road and the cost of the toll, if it is included. If we click on the "Maps" section located at the top, it will show us at a glance where each of the routes go.
Depending on the kilometers and the time, we can estimate in a very simple way if it is worth going through some of the proposed tolls.
We must also take into account the weather conditions, since on many occasions they will force us to have to go through secondary roads and at night, in winter with frosts, or raining buckets, in general, it is not worth it.
