Apple is now turning the wheel: iPhone 15 with a certain extra

After the iPhone 14 is before the iPhone 15, the game will continue in 2023 and Apple will present a new smartphone. Much, including the design, is currently still pure speculation. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro shows us a pretty interesting concept with a little something extra - looks crazy at first, but could bring a whole new experience with it.

What could the iPhone 15 look like, especially the Pro version? This cannot yet be answered conclusively. However, the well-known designer and conceptual artist Antonio De Rosa has come up with a suggestion that is confusing at first glance, but on closer inspection is quite ingenious (source: Yanko Design). According to him, Apple turns the wheel in the truest sense of the word and donates the same to the iPhone 15. But why?

We have a guess. Rumors predict that Apple's iPhone in late 2023 will integrate a periscope camera, a space-saving lens design that allows a powerful 10x or even larger optical zoom. Samsung, for example, has been using the technology for years, most recently again in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Apparently, the small wheel on the iPhone could then be used to control the telephoto lens or, among other things, the zoom - that's our suspicion.

The iPhone manufacturer could then use the wheel to mimic the stepless zoom control of a D-SLR – zooming is done there by turning the lens directly to the right or left. A feature appreciated and loved by professional photographers worldwide. So far, smartphones have not offered anything comparable, for Apple the chance to generate a real unique selling point. Of course, a finer adjustment of the focus with the wheel would also be possible.

But will Apple actually be inspired by the concept? We can only hope, but we shouldn't just count on it. So for now it's just the idea.

Speaking of which: the rest of the design is also pleasing, especially the graceful shape appeals to us. With the convex top and bottom of the frame, the design also differs again from the clear edges that we have known since the iPhone 12. The camera hump is gone. If you look closely, it becomes clear that the camera area is even slightly lowered . With the side effect that the lenses are flush with the rest of the back – a clever solution.
