Just a few days ago, Google presented a first version of Android 13 for developers. This includes a new function that can do more than Google will probably allow in the end. A developer got Windows 11 running on the Pixel 6 – and even with relatively good performance.

In Android 13, Google integrated the ability to run other Linux operating systems in a virtual environment. The software can be run in a virtualization via KVM, which creates many possibilities. Rather than just trying out Linux operating systems, one developer has also installed Windows 11 on the Pixel 6 running Android 13. He shared some of his achievements on Twitter:

He is particularly surprised by the performance. The performance should almost correspond to the native performance of the smartphone. With a little fine-tuning, he even optimized the performance. Not everything works yet, but that was just the beginning. In two short videos he shows the boot processor and even Doom runs as a game on the smartphone .

The basis here is Windows 11 in the ARM version , which can run on the Pixel 6. Google is said to have been working on a way to enable virtualization in Android for a long time. Whether the company wanted the devices to run Windows 11 is of course another matter. Presumably, the use in the final version will be somewhat limited. Nevertheless, some new possibilities could be created - especially when you think of tablets.
