Amazon with a hefty price increase for Prime membership in the US

Amazon Prime started out as a subscription for free shipping on online orders, but has expanded to other benefits and categories over the years, such as: B. Amazon announced on Thursday that the price of Prime will soon increase from $119/year to $139/year, and for people who pay monthly it will increase from $12.99/month to $14,199/month. The price increase will come into effect for new customers on February 18th, for existing customers the increased price will apply from March 25th.

The company said on Thursday that the price increase is due to "the continued expansion of Prime member benefits, as well as increases in labor and transportation costs." The last price increase for Prime was in April 2018, before that the price increased to $99 per year in 2014. Amazon Prime originally cost $75 per year.

Now it is probably only a matter of time before Amazon Prime membership in Germany will also become more expensive. So far, you have to pay EUR 69.00 per year in this country.
