Telegram: Apple is helping the federal government
Telegram has been occupying the German authorities for quite some time. From the WhatsApp competitor, the messenger has now become a haven for conspiracy theorists, lateral thinkers, criminals and agitators. The German judiciary wants to take action against this, but has a big problem.
So far, Telegram has refused to cooperate with the German authorities. This even goes so far that the provider does not even have a summonable address. And so it is impossible for the German judiciary to communicate corresponding inquiries or requests.
This has now even gone so far that the Federal Criminal Police Office has now set up a task force to investigate and take action against Telegram. But now unexpected help is coming, in the form of Apple. Because here the federal government has been given a little help.
Apple is said to have transmitted a summonable address from Telegram. And so it was now possible for the German authorities to establish personal contact for the first time. But the German authorities had also had successful talks with Google.
Telegram is owned by Russian billionaire Pavel Durov, but Telegram is based in the United Arab Emirates. And there you could reach someone for the first time who probably also has something to say. And so the willingness to help is said to have been promised from there. Let's see how it goes now.
