It's been eight months since we last looked at a major update to the popular Android rooting tool Magisk, and a lot has happened since then — like the release of Android 12 in October.
So it's high time for an update, and on Wednesday developer John Wu has good news for all those eagerly awaiting root by announcing the public beta for the powerful new Magisk v24.0.
This week's beta is a big update that's both give and take. Magiskhide, the feature that allowed users to bypass Google's SafetyNet, is gone. On the bright side, with this release, Wu finally introduces Zygisk, a new way of integrating parts of Magisk into Android's internal Zygote process, potentially helping to hide the tool from your applications.
Wu also removed the Magisk module repository. This means that starting with this version, the modules need to define their own URLs to check and download future updates.
