{Disarmed} Xiaomi continues to bet on UWB technology and invests in one of the leading companies in this sector
Ultra-wideband technology is safe and agile, and Xiaomi is clear that this is the next step to grow its AIoT, its smart home ecosystem. And for this he has just bought shares of Ultraception , a company registered in 2019 by the technology specialist Dong Zongyu and focused exclusively on UWB solutions.
This is not the first time that Xiaomi has shown great interest in UWB technology . For example, its One Finger Link made it very clear that, at least in China, the company wants to simplify the connection between devices as much as possible and avoid everything that involves configuration menus and complex validations.
Xiaomi invests in TWB technology
Through Gizmochina we get this news. It is clear that Xiaomi wants to continue working on this path. The Xiaomi MIX 4 , for example, will make use of UWB technology.
And it is that the UWB allows interaction —and integration— between devices without having to configure any platform or validation gateway such as Google Home , the devices simply recognize each other and communicate due to their proximity.

Apparently, the Ultraception company has managed to optimize the communication range through calculation algorithms, achieving centimeter-level positioning accuracy, "± 3°". The image above indicates the purchase of shares, from the QCC portal —the Chinese government commercial registration agency—, by Xiaomi.

The performance of this technology has been tested on a Xiaomi Mi 10 and the results have been very positive , showing improvements in the ability to place the different devices compatible with Xiaomi Home in a space. So it is possible that all future smartphones – or even some of the current ones, through software updates – from the company include some precision chip to fully optimize UWB technology.
