Unfortunately, in the previous generation we only saw the equivalent of the standard version of this model in Spain , leaving the Pro variant exclusively for the Asian market.
We still do not know what will happen with this new generation so, in this comparison that we have prepared for you, we are going to put the new Xiaomi 12 face to face against its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 11 since, as we say, the Pro variant does not arrived in Spain and the Xiaomi 12X does not have an equivalent in the Mi 11 family.

An important leap forward in almost everything
It is evident, there is practically no trace of the Xiaomi Mi 11 in the new generation of Xiaomi 12 , from the design of the device to its internal hardware, everything has changed. In fact, if we take a look at its aesthetics we see how Xiaomi has perfected a finish that already looked very good, but has slightly remodeled the rear camera module and has given the team new colors in pastel tones and a new vegan leather material. .
For its front we also have another important change, and that is none other than moving the hole of the selfie camera to the central area instead of being placed in the upper left corner , a minor change but that is obvious. By the way, it continues to maintain a very good use of the panel to the edges, fingerprint sensor under the screen, stereo speakers signed by Harman Kardon and infrared sensor for remote control of other compatible gadgets.
If we go on to talk about their screens, this is undoubtedly one of the great changes between both teams, since in the new generation Xiaomi has chosen to incorporate a much smaller panel than in the Mi 11, leaving both configurations as follows :
- Xiaomi 12: 6.28-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD + resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, up to 12-bit color depth and DisplayMate A + certification for lower consumption.
Xiaomi Mi 11: 6.81-inch AMOLED panel with WQHD + resolution with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and compatibility with HDR 10+ .

We are going to find another important change internally, where both devices present first-rate hardware but, as expected, the new Xiaomi 12 goes one step further. This mounts the latest Qualcomm processor, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with respect to the more than solvent Snapdragon 888 of its opponent, both with the same RAM memory technologies and storage capacities.
As for the battery, we found only slight changes and that, taking into account the lower screen size of the new generation, works very in its favor. The Xiaomi Mi 11 has a capacity of 4,600 mAh with fast charging of up to 55W via cable and 50W of wireless charging, while the Xiaomi 12 has a 4500 mAh capacity with fast charging of up to 67W via cable and 30W of wireless charging.
Therefore, everything seems to indicate that the Xiaomi 12 is superior both in terms of autonomy and load with respect to its previous generation, thanks in large part to a new lithium cobalt oxide battery that houses a higher energy density in the same size and smaller size of other items like 5G board or VC liquid cooling surface.
Of course, we continue to maintain a connectivity pack somewhat more advanced than the previous generation but the one incorporated in the Xiaomi Mi 11 is still quite current, as is the software since, despite the fact that the Xiaomi 12 will come together with Android 12 and MIUI 13 ex factory, Xiaomi has already confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi 11 will update soon and they will be up to par.
Finally, we have to review the camera configuration of both teams that is slightly different, especially as regards the main sensor. Yes, it is true that the two phones can still record video with a maximum resolution of 8K with their rear camera and Full HD with the selfie camera, but their sensors have been modified, remaining as follows:
Xiaomi 12
- 50 MP Sony IMX766 main sensor with f / 1.9 aperture and optical stabilization
- 13MP Ultra Wide Angle Lens with f / 2.4 aperture and 123 ° angle of view
- 5 MP Telemacro sensor with variable focus between 3 and 7 cm with f / 2.4 aperture
- 32 MP selfie camera
Xiaomi Mi 11
- 108 MP main sensor with f / 1.85 aperture and optical stabilization
- 12MP Ultra Wide Angle Lens with f / 2.4 aperture and 123 ° angle of view
- 5 MP Telemacro sensor with f / 2.4 aperture
- 20 MP selfie camera with f / 2.2 aperture
For now, prices that cannot be compared
As we already know, the Xiaomi 12 can only be obtained for now in the Chinese market, so its starting price of 512 euros at the exchange rate is quite far from the 749 euros of its previous generation.
We will have to wait for Xiaomi to present this device in our country to know what its final price will be, but what is clear is that the Asian firm has improved in practically all the sections what we already had, so we are looking forward to testing it and tell you everything new that has been achieved with this smartphone.
