{Disarmed} With this great trick you can free up your Xiaomi storage without having to install anything
Over the last few years, the majority of devices that are launched on the market each time arrive with a greater integrated storage capacity in order to avoid problems once we have installed applications or save our files and photographs in it. Unfortunately, not all users have equipment with high capacities in this regard, but don't worry, xiaomist has a solution that can help you.
Since they started to unfold the ROMs MIUI 12.5 Enhanced once we delete our photos and videos from the gallery to the trash and eliminated later in the root directory of the storage creates a folder named "_ protected _ image" which We can delete it manually, thus gaining extra storage that will not hurt us.
How to delete junk data from our Xiaomi and thus gain storage
As we say, this little trick can help us gain a few extra gigs of storage so we are not in such a hurry. And this is not the only detail, since these images that we previously deleted have created preview thumbnails that are stored in the following directory: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.miui.gallery
In order to access these directories and eliminate the junk files that we will not need in the future, you will only have to:
- Access the files app of your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO phone
- Once inside, access the Android folder from the root directory and access the following address: data / com.miui.gallery
- Once inside, click on the "Files" folder and access "gallery _ disk _ cache"
In this directory we will find three folders: "full _ size", "remote _ data" and "small _ size". All of them contain cache files that remain in the storage of our device but are not necessary for its correct operation.
With all this, we will be able to gain some space in the internal memory of our equipment that, added to other ways of freeing up storage that we have already explained in other tutorials from xiaomist, we will be able to keep our smartphones as clean as possible in order to have proper storage and enjoy them to the fullest.

I confirm it helped a bit. Still my "Other" went from 15GB to 14GB. So still there is something that needs to be done. Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
ReplyDeleteCorrection: At first I only deleted item from the directory "Full size". To show all the items in directory "small size" took for the phone several minutes. After waiting the phone showed 7411 items in this directory. Then it took several minutes to "Select/Highlight all" and then it took another several minutes to actually delete them all. After this process my "Other" went from 14GB to 13,28GB. But it still is way too big.
DeleteAnd you should also look and delete items in the directory "trashBin"
