Samsung Galaxy S21: Android 12 causes annoying problem

Samsung started distributing the Android 12 update for the Galaxy S21 smartphones a few days ago. Although the new software was extensively tested in the beta test, there is now a somewhat annoying problem. But not all users are affected.

Samsung Galaxy S21: Android 12 makes smartphones jerky

As an owner of a high-end smartphone like the Galaxy S21, you don't want to experience that after installing Android 12. In some situations, the Samsung smartphone no longer runs as smoothly as it did with Android 11. The reason for this is quickly found. After installing Android 12 with "One UI 4", the variable refresh rate is often no longer switched correctly.

In places where 120 Hz should actually be used, the Galaxy S21 suddenly only runs at 60 Hz , although that was not the case before. This creates unsightly lags, which makes the Samsung smartphone feel slow (source: SamMobile). The problem cannot currently be solved. Since the refresh rate behaves dynamically and decides which setting is made when, you have to wait for a solution from the manufacturer.

Currently only Galaxy S21 models in the USA seem to be affected by the problem. At least that's where most of the reports come from. Why the concentration is so high there, in particular, remains open. Samsung installs Qualcomm processors in the USA, while Exynos chips are used in Germany. The software itself should be the same.

In the video you can see what Samsung is making possible with Android 12 and One UI 4:

Samsung is planning further Android 12 updates

The distribution of Android 12 for the Galaxy S21 smartphones was just the beginning. Samsung has already revealed which models will still receive the major software update. The little problem with the refresh rate is unlikely to change the plan. More cell phones and tablets should be supplied shortly.
