{Disarmed} Telegram 8.2 is here, bringing lightning-fast paging and calendar viewing in the shared media, join requests, global chat color themes and more
Telegram has released a new update, version 8.2 of the messenger is now available. The new version introduces some practical improvements and there are tons of new features like lightning-fast scrolling and calendar viewing in shared media, join requests, global chat color themes and more.
Telegram has now added a date bar to the right of the Shared Media page that the user can drag up and down for quick scrolling and finding media. In addition, users can adjust the density of the display (two images per line) or reduce it (up to 12 images per line) by pinching and pinching. The Shared Media page also has a new calendar view that shows a preview of each day's content.
Last September, Telegram started filtering searches based on general categories (e.g. media, chats, links). With the latest update, users can filter their shared media by either photos or videos. Both the calendar view and the photo / video filter can be called up via the overflow menu at the top right.
Finally, Telegram is adding new functionality and features to the invitation links. The last update of the invitation links in February 2021 brought us QR codes, and now group admins have the option to preview new members before they are added to a group. A button for submitting a request to join appears on the user page. Admins can view the applicant's profile pictures and résumé before approving or rejecting the request, and can assign unique names to their invite links for better organization.
What's next for Telegram users on Android? The chat topics introduced in the last update will be extended to the entire app. This feature is already available to iPhone users, but Telegram promises that it will soon be available to Android users as well.
