With the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, Mobvoi has presented the successor to the popular TicWatch Pro 3. The new generation of smartwatches is more robust and more powerful, but does not dispense with the most important unique selling point: a dual display. I was able to try out the watch a few days in advance and can thus draw a comparison with the Galaxy Watch 4 from Samsung.
TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra: Faster and more robust than before
The TicWatch Pro 3 has a large fan base. I never tried the Android smartwatch myself, but I always found the concept with the two displays interesting. Now I was offered the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra in advance and of course I took the opportunity. Since I have already been able to test the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, I can get a good idea of whether the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra is convincing - or not.
But let's start with the most important innovations. This time the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra is built according to the US military standard 810G and can be used even in the most adverse environments. High temperatures, humidity, solar radiation, shocks or negative pressure do not affect the watch, which is certified according to IP68. The watch was made of stainless steel and high-strength nylon with fiberglass.

Although the watch looks quite large with its 1.4-inch display, it is extremely light at 41 grams. Mobvoi still managed to install a very large battery with 577 mAh. The battery life is also one of the biggest arguments for the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra. The combination of AMOLED and FSTN displays makes perfect sense. Instead of relying on the always-on function of the AMOLED display, the economical FSTN display is used, which consumes much less energy. I've been using the watch since Monday and until the article was published I still had 30 percent remaining time.
The TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100+, which is supported by a dual processor from Mobvoi. The performance of the smartwatch fits . There are still small delays here and there, but there were also delays in the Galaxy Watch 4 from Samsung. Although the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra is delivered with an older WearOS version, I currently don't see any disadvantage in it. Here you can also get Spotify and YouTube Music with offline functionality. I even find the Tic apps a little more appealing than Samsung's. The only annoying thing is that there are basically twice every app, since Google naturally wants to be present on the watches with its Fit apps.

You can also use all functions with any Android smartphone. At Samsung you need a Samsung mobile phone for certain features. On the other hand, the range of functions of the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra is not quite as large. You cannot record an EKG or measure your blood pressure here. But of course there are also various tracking options for sports, over 20 training programs and the watch can detect irregular heartbeats and atrial fibrillation with the IHB / AFib detection . In order to receive all analyzes and functions, you also have to install the Mobvoi app here as well.
In the video you can see the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra in detail:
TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra convinced me
The test of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic really showed that Samsung is making a fresh start. Everything is not going so well yet, there are still problems here and there, essential functions such as the Google Assistant are missing and the battery life is rather mediocre. This is exactly where the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra scores . The clock runs very quickly, lasts a long time and the dual display has real added value. An update to WearOS 3.0 should be available in the coming months.
The TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra with GPS can be ordered from October 13th at Mobvoi (view at Mobvoi) and Amazon (view at Amazon) at a price of 299.99 euros. There is also an LTE model. However, this will only appear in November at a price of 359.99 euros.
