With the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Google has finally officially presented its new high-end smartphones and also revealed how long the devices will actually be supplied with Android updates. Unfortunately, there is a bit of disappointment to report here.
Google Pixel 6 (Pro): Only three years of Android updates
Anyone who hoped that Google would change its update policy significantly with its own tensor chip will now be disappointed. It is true that the new Pixel 6 smartphones are provided with security updates for five years and can therefore be used until October 2026, but there will be significantly fewer major version jumps of Android. There wo n't be the four expected Android OS upgrades , but only three:

This means that Google's update guarantee is hardly better than that of Samsung . There are also three years of Android updates and four years of security updates. If you consider that Google itself has the reins in hand with its own processor and is the developer of Android, we actually would have expected a little more.
In a conversation before the presentation of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Google also said that this is only the least they will offer. It has at least been suggested that more might be possible, but that cannot be promised yet. In any case, the tensor chip has enough power to include Android updates after 2024. It just depends on what Google really wants.
In the video you can see all the new functions of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro:
Demand for the Google Pixel 6 Pro is extremely high
We already received the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro in advance and were able to get a first impression. Google really did it this time. If you want a real Google mobile phone that has unique functions that the competition, especially in the area of cameras and speech, will not be able to master for a long time, then this is the right place for you. Many versions are already out of stock in the Google Play Store. The rush after the event yesterday brought the shop to collapse.
