It took a long time, but soon the Chinese manufacturer Oppo will finally be presenting its first foldable smartphone. The design should be based on the Galaxy Z-Fold series from Samsung. The "Oppo Fold" will certainly not be a bargain - and one important question still remains unanswered.
Oppo: folding cell phone is in the starting blocks
For some time there have been rumors about a foldable cell phone from Oppo . Now the reports have become much more specific. It is said that the "Oppo Fold" will be published in 2021. A presentation may be expected in November. Actually, the special cell phone should have been on the market long ago.
According to new information from China, Oppo has ultimately decided against a display from BOE and instead relies on Samsung. So it's no wonder that Oppos's variant is externally based on Samsung's Galaxy Z-Fold series. Oppos cell phone is likely to be a bit bigger .
The LTPO display of the foldable Oppo smartphone should have a diagonal of 8 inches when unfolded and offer a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hertz. The main camera could come from Sony and allow pictures with 50 MP, while selfies with 32 MP are possible. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 processor should provide the necessary performance. Apparently you don't want to wait for the successor. The Snapdragon 898 is expected to be unveiled in December 2021.

"Oppo Fold" only for the Chinese market?
At the moment it is still completely unclear whether the folding cell phone from Oppo will also be available outside of China without major difficulties. A leaker did not publish any new information about this, but pointed out in this context that the "Oppo Fold" will be quite price-intensive (source: Weibo via GSMArena).
