If you think of Chinese smartphone manufacturers, the first thing that comes to mind is Huawei or Xiaomi. But a third from the People's Republic is currently catching up - and has even fought its way to fourth place worldwide. There are big plans for Europe.
Canalys' market researchers have published new figures on the smartphone market in the third quarter of 2021. There were no big changes at the top: Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi are on the podium and share the top 3 among themselves. A manufacturer, still largely unknown in Germany, made it to fourth place: Vivo .
Vivo rises to fourth place among the largest smartphone manufacturers
Compared to the previous year, Vivo was able to increase its market share to 10 percent and is now directly behind Xiaomi, which comes to 14 percent (source: Canalys). Vivo and Oppo share fourth place with ten percent each, but the latter already includes OnePlus' sales and market shares. Oppo only recently acquired OnePlus.
Noteworthy: Both Vivo and Oppo belong to the electronics group BBK Electronics , as does Realme. If the market shares of all BBK brands were added up, the IT giant from the Chinese city of Dongguan would be a real competitor for Samsung for first place.

Vivo wants to double its European presence in 2022
Vivo has only recently officially been represented in Europe and is celebrating its first birthday these days. In addition to Germany, Vivo also offers its smartphones in Italy, France, Poland, Spain and Great Britain. In addition, also in Austria, the Czech Republic, Romania and Serbia. The manufacturer wants to double its European presence in the coming year and also celebrate its debut in Portugal at the beginning of 2022.
The great ambitions come from Germany: the company has its European headquarters in the Rhine metropolis of Düsseldorf.
