Huawei is adopting the unique selling point of Samsung smartphones

Samsung has apparently decided to phase out the Note series. For Huawei this is probably a reason to take over this unique selling point of the competition and to develop a V-Pencil now.

Huawei plans V-Pencil for foldable smartphone

Samsung has not officially discontinued the Note series, but everything points to exactly that. The S Pen is now available for normal smartphones like the Galaxy S21 Ultra and folding phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (for testing). However, Samsung has not presented a Galaxy Note 21 Ultra. Huawei also wants to adopt the new direction. A trademark application now reveals that Huawei has the "V-Pencil" protected (source: LetsGoDigital).

It was only recently announced that Huawei is planning a "Mate V". It is said to be a foldable smartphone that is offered as a cheap alternative to the Mate X. This should change a lot visually and go in the direction of the clamshell cell phone , similar to the Motorola RAZR or Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. With a real pen, which can also recognize different pressure points via a digitizer in the display, Huawei would be a bit ahead of all smartphone manufacturers. Samsung does not offer the pen for this type of folding cell phone.

As with the current Samsung smartphones, you will probably have the disadvantage that the pen cannot be inserted into the smartphone . As with Samsung, it is therefore available for purchase as an option. If you need a pen, you can get one. If you don't need it, you don't have to buy it. It is conceivable that support for other smartphones will be expanded further. So far, however, it has only been confirmed for the V series.

Huawei no longer plays a role in Germany

Due to the lack of Google apps and services, Huawei no longer plays a role in Germany. Instead Honor, who will soon be launching a new smartphone with Google apps. Although the companies have been separated, the smartphones still look similar. So it is quite possible that Honor will adopt this technology , which will make the development interesting for us again.
