{Disarmed} Huawei EMUI 12 is based on Android 11
The Huawei Nova 9 is the newest Huawei phone. While HarmonyOS is running in China, it was surprising to hear that EMUI is still being used as the user interface in Europe. More precisely, EMUI 12. But the surprise is even bigger when you could now see that EMUI 12 is based on the Nova 9 on Android 11.
Of course, you don't see any of this on the Nova 9, because Huawei has erased all references to Android. EMUI 12 can only be read everywhere. Although it looks like HarmonyOS, it is still Android 11 with which the device is on the move in this country.
But thanks to a Geekbench entry, you can see that the Huawei Nova 9 is on the road with EMUI 12 based on Android 11. And it is the first Huawei smartphone with Android 11 to date. All previous models never got beyond Android 10.
Yes, the software base has changed drastically, but the user interface remains the same and has the same HarmonyOS look. By and large, however, it boils down to the fact that Huawei is still seemingly opting for Android in order to keep the entire app and Android app ecosystem in the global marketplace. Because the HarmonyOS ecosystem is still a long way from competing with Android.
