How to take a screenshot on your Xiaomi mobile

The MIUI customization layer that is installed on our Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO devices brings with it a very wide number of options in order to make the use of our device something simpler in our day to day life. A good example of this are screenshots , which can be carried out in several different ways.

There are up to three types of screenshots and several ways to take them with our device. In this post we review what all of them are so that you have no doubts when it comes to obtaining the result you want for your captures.

How to take a screenshot on your Xiaomi phone

The first of the methods that we are going to explain is the traditional screen capture, that is, an exact photograph of what we are seeing at that moment in the system interface. To do this, there are up to four different methods that you will be able to use:

  • Press the volume down and on / off buttons simultaneously
  • Swipe down with three fingers on the interface
  • Perform a double tap with our knuckles on the screen
  • Capture from the notification panel

By default, MIUI comes configured only to be able to take our captures by simultaneously pressing the volume down buttons and on and off the device in addition to capturing from the notification bar with its corresponding icon, we will not have to configure anything.

But, for the remaining two methods, we will have to configure it as follows:

  • Click on "Additional settings"
  • Once inside, select the "Gesture shortcuts" section
  • Enter the option "Take screenshot"
  • Activate the "Swipe down 3 fingers" and "Double knuckle tap" options

How to take a long screenshot on your Xiaomi phone

Another interesting function when taking screenshots with our phone is to be able to take long captures. With this, the system allows us to capture the entire scroll of a web page or even all the content of the settings of our phone , something extremely useful if we need to show an amount of extra content to what we already see on our screen.

To do this, we will only have to take a traditional screen capture but, when we do it, we will have to select the "Scroll" option in the upper right part of our screen . With this, the system will make an animation of the complete capture that we can pause at any time we want.

Finally, the third of the ways that we will be able to use to take our captures will be to take partial captures of a specific one of the screen of our device. By default, MIUI does not arrive with this option activated, so we will have to configure it ourselves manually as follows:

  • Access the settings of your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO phone
  • Click on "Additional settings"
  • Once inside, select the "Gesture shortcuts" section
  • Enter the option "Partial screenshot"
  • Activate the options "Hold with 3 fingers" and "Draw a circle with the knuckle"

Thanks to this, the system will allow us to draw precisely in which specific area we can take our capture , something very interesting in order not to have to later edit the image resulting from a complete capture to select that part that interests us.

(function() { window._JS_MODULES = window._JS_MODULES || {}; var headElement = document.getElementsByTagName( head )[0]; if (_JS_MODULES.instagram) { var instagramScript = document.createElement( script ); instagramScript.src = ; instagramScript.async = true; instagramScript.defer = true; headElement.appendChild(instagramScript); } })();
