{Disarmed} How to activate end-to-end encrypted backup of WhatsApp on your Xiaomi phone
WhatsApp has announced today that over the next few days one of the security-level functionalities most awaited by users who use the application in their day-to-day will arrive. This is none other than the end-to-end encrypted backup that we already saw appear in the beta version of the app itself and that now, finally, is a reality for all users.
This option joins the end-to-end encryption of WhatsApp messages after more than five years since its launch , so our security when using the application will be greatly improved for our peace of mind. Below we show you how you can activate it on your Xiaomi phone as the corresponding update arrives.
So you can activate the end-to-end encrypted backup of WhatsApp on your Xiaomi
We must bear in mind that, by default, this option will be deactivated, so we will have to activate it ourselves manually as the stable version of this update arrives on our phones. With its activation, WhatsApp will allow all users to enjoy end-to-end encryption in the backup to protect all received messages, voice notes, photos, videos and files in the cloud.
To be able to carry it out on our Xiaomi phone, we will only have to follow these steps:
- Access the settings of your WhatsApp application
- Select the "Chats" option and then click on "Backup"
- Once inside, we will have to select "End-to-end encrypted backup" and click on "Activate"
After activating, we will have to create a password of at least six characters and a letter, or use a 64-digit password that will be automatically generated by the application itself, which we will have to keep safely, since there will be no way to recover the password or key.
After creating this password, we will see how we are already allowed to generate an end-to-end encrypted backup, a process that we can perform in the background and continue using the application as normal without having to close anything.
Once the process has finished, we see how the screen of this functionality has completely changed, since the options that now appear are to create or change the password or disable end-to-end encryption so that our backup can leave to be protected in the Google Drive application.
