Google has introduced a new wireless charger for its Pixel 6 range, the Pixel Stand (2nd Gen). The new wireless charging stand is optimized for the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro and other Google hardware.
Compared to the first generation Pixel Stand, the second generation model offers a higher wireless charging power of 21 watts and 23 watts for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, more than double the 10 watts offered by the original. This is better than many of the best wireless charging pads.
The Pixel Stand (2nd generation) has an active fan that keeps the device cool while in use, so you don't have to worry about it being too hot. There are also different charging modes ("Max Charge", "Quiet Charge" and "Auto / Optimized Mode") that can be selected automatically or manually to adjust the charging speed and fan noise, although Google claims that the fan is "almost noiseless ".
Just like the first Pixel Stand, the new model supports the docked pixel experience to turn the device into an intelligent display. This includes features like Google Assistant Visual Spotlight, Photo Frame and easily accessible home controls.
The Pixel Stand (2nd generation) costs EUR 79.00 and is therefore significantly more expensive than many other wireless chargers. The device isn't commercially available yet, but Google says it's "coming soon".
