{Disarmed} Google Pixel 6 series: Updates are guaranteed up to Android 16

Pixel 6 advertising

This is an announcement! As can be read now, the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro 4 should receive major Android updates. So that means up to Android 16 you are on the safe side. In 2026 there will be security updates, but no new Android version.

We've known for a long time that both devices will receive software updates for five years , but previously we weren't sure what that meant exactly. It could have been two operating system upgrades and three years of security updates. But now there is an answer.

Snoopytech has posted a number of precise leaks on Twitter in the past few months. If he's right, Google is actually planning operating system upgrades for the Pixel 6 series for four years. That would be one of the longest support periods for an Android smartphone at all, with which it could compete with the recently introduced Fairphone 4 , which should get up to Android 15 updates.

Thanks to the leaked advertising pages from Carphone Warehouse in Great Britain, basically everything about the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is already known. Everything is now just waiting for the introduction of the new Google Phones.
