{Disarmed} Android 12: Update your smartphone to the latest version with an unofficial custom ROM

Since Google announced the arrival of the stable version of Android 12 and passed the source code on to AOSP, the crafting party for custom ROMs has been in full swing. But if you don't have an up-to-date device, the wait for Android 12 can take a few months.

But users of older smartphones also have the option of switching to Android 12 - already now! Of course, this is only possible with the help of custom ROMs. And this then means that the service life of these devices can of course be extended by a few more years. Because even on devices that are getting on in years, such a custom ROM runs stably and quickly.

The most famous ROM is LineageOS. This has been actively developed by a large community for years and brings new Android iterations to run even on devices that have not received official updates from the manufacturer for years.

Now there is an overview of a number of devices for which Android 12 ports are available. However, these are still unofficial builds and most likely contain a few bugs. But in a few weeks these should have been eliminated.

Aside from the ROMs mentioned above, there will be plenty of Android 12 custom ROMs to be released in the coming weeks. However, not all custom ROMs come with Google Apps preinstalled. If you are looking for a suitable GApps distribution, there are two excellent packages, BiTGApps and NikGapps .
