If you have a specific problem with your AirPods Pro, you can replace it with Apple free of charge even after the warranty has expired. The deadline set for this is now being extended, and affected customers will be pleased.
Last year, some users complained about noise and dropouts with the AirPods Pro. An exchange program set up by Apple followed. Affected users can therefore replace their earphones free of charge at Apple or at an Apple service provider . Previously, this was within two years of the date of purchase.
Apple is now exchanging AirPods Pro within three years
Now Apple is quietly extending this period to a total of three years after the purchase (source Apple). This is praiseworthy on the one hand and has a specific reason on the other. Apple has been selling the AirPods Pro since October 30, 2019. For devices from this early period, the deadline for the free exchange would have expired in a few weeks. As a result of the extension that has now been carried out, these buyers are also still covered.
But who is actually qualified for a free exchange? Apple gives the following symptoms of the AirPods for a corresponding classification:
Crackling or static sounds that are amplified in noisy environments, while exercising, or when talking on the phone. Active noise cancellation does not work as expected, for example loss of bass sound or amplification of background noise, e.g. B. road or aircraft noise. How are the AirPods Pro different from the rest of the headphones? An answer can be found in the video:
Apple's charging case is not exchanged
In these cases, Apple will exchange either the left, right or both earbuds free of charge. The manufacturer explains the procedure in a support document. Important to know: The charging case remains with the customer and is not exchanged . Only the AirPods Pro are affected, the "normal" AirPods and AirPods Max are ruled out.
