Xiaomi 12 Ultra: Chinese manufacturer sets new standards

Xiaomi is slowly but surely working its way up to become the world's most important smartphone manufacturer. With the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, the Chinese company wants to show what it really can do. That's why the main camera is padded instead of spilled.

Xiaomi 12 expected with 192 MP camera

Before the end of this year, the Xiaomi 12 (without Mi) is expected to be a new smartphone series that will succeed the Mi 11. With Mix 4, the Chinese company has already shown what it is capable of. The under-display camera is considerably better compared to the solution from Samsung in the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (for the test). This could soon also apply to the main camera. While Samsung is apparently not planning a major upgrade in the same direction in the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Xiaomi wants to set a new benchmark in the 12 Ultra and install a 192 MP camera (source: GizChina).

As with the Mi 11, Xiaomi wants to offer three high-end smartphones with the 12, 12 Pro and 12 Ultra, with the Ultra of course being the spearhead. The new 192 MP camera, which supports an extreme form of 16-to-1 pixel binning , will be used there. Normally you take 12 MP photos with your mobile phone, whereby the individual pixels are made up of 16 physical pixels. The software then turns it into a beautiful photo. According to the insider, Xiaomi also wants to have heavily revised the latter.

The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro should probably continue to use the 108 MP camera. Both cell phones could also benefit from the new software and perhaps a newer version of the 108 MP sensor and thus also improve the image quality .

In the video , Xiaomi shows the Mix 4's new sub-display camera:

Xiaomi 12 expected with a new high-end processor

Xiaomi not only wants to install a brand new 192 MP camera in the high-end smartphone, but also the latest processor. Instead of the Snapdragon 888 Plus, which is still used in Mix 4, the Xiaomi 12 should be the Snapdragon 898 . This promises noticeably more performance with optimized efficiency. The presentation of the new generation of smartphones is expected at the end of 2021.
