iPhone 13: What Apple lets under the table - the restrictions

With flowery words, Apple is quickly at hand, but what about the limitations of the new iPhone 13? They quickly fall under the table. But not for us, we prefer to name the pitfalls of the new Apple phones directly - "5G light", "compulsory purchase" and video resolution that is too low.

Basically, with the new iPhone 13 (mini) and iPhone 13 Pro (Max), Apple has succeeded in a convincing update of the previous flagship cell phone. Nevertheless, there are some limitations that Apple has to point out in the small print , but of course otherwise leaves them unmentioned. What are these?

iPhone 13: Limitations of the New Apple Phones

1. 5G still cut for the rest of the world: Although cell phones now support even more frequency bands, the faster mmWave technology is still reserved for the Americans (source: MacRumors). In the rumor mill this sounded different before - puff cake. The rest of the world has to be satisfied with "5G light".

2. Compulsory purchase for ProRes in 4K: Anyone who wants to use the new, professional video format "ProRes" in 4K resolution will be forced by Apple to buy the models of the iPhone Pro (Max) with larger capacities. If you only have the small version with 128 GB, you will be cut and can "shoot" ProRes with a maximum of Full HD (1080p) - a big thing. However, if you record videos in 4K, you can never have too much memory anyway and should definitely use 256, 512 GB or even 1 TB.

Pros like in the video are happy about the iPhone 13 Pro, but less about the limitations:

3. Cinema mode not in 4K: Apple installs a useful "cinema mode", which can be "played" with impressive depth of field (automatically or manually if desired), but unfortunately it is not available in an adequate "cinema resolution". Full HD alone is available with 30 frames per second. Unfortunately, the iPhone 13 does not achieve a 4K resolution suitable for real cinema in the said mode. If you need more resolution, you have to do without the cool function.

Admittedly, the mentioned limitations are certainly not a no-go for the majority of potential buyers, but we think they are worth mentioning. We learn: Ultimately, Apple too has to make small compromises here and there.

Order iPhone 13: when does it start?

The iPhone 13 (mini) and iPhone 13 Pro (Max) can be ordered from Friday, September 17th. At 2 p.m. on the dot , Apple takes orders in the online store in this country. Authorized dealers will follow suit. The prices officially start at 799 euros (iPhone 13 mini, 128 GB) and, depending on the equipment, range up to 1,829 euros for the iPhone 13 Pro Max with 1 TB storage. Deliveries will then be made a week later from September 24th.
