iPhone 13 Pro vs. iPhone 13: That s why one of the smartphones is faster

The first benchmarks show that not all of the new iPhone models are equally powerful. Apple is now making a difference and for the first time does not use the same chips for the iPhone 13 (mini) and iPhone 13 Pro (Max) in its top smartphones. What's behind it?

iPhone 13 Pro with significantly better graphics performance

Even if the new iPhones are not yet available, the first benchmarks are already making the rounds (source: MacRumors). It turns out that the results reveal clear differences on one point .

If the results of the so-called single and multi-core benchmarks between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro are still comparable, the graphics performance (metal score) looks quite different. Specifically, the iPhone 13 Pro achieves an impressive 14,216 points on this point, whereas the normal iPhone 13 only achieves 10,608 points. Ergo: At this point, the Pro versions are over 34 percent faster than the standard models . How can this be?

The iPhone 13 can not only do more, as demonstrated in the video , it is also faster:

Apple donated more GPU cores to the Pro models

If you take a closer look at the technical data, you will notice the difference. Apple has given the new A15 Bionic in the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max a more powerful GPU (graphics unit). Instead of the previous 4 cores, the top models now use 5 cores. A first for Apple, because so far no such differences have been made with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. We guess: Features such as support for the new ProRes format literally demand more performance and can ultimately use it.

So if you want to have the fastest chip currently in your iPhone, you have to use the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, while the standard models are a bit behind. However, these are also faster than their predecessors - around 10 percent faster than the A14 in the single-core benchmark and 18 percent faster in the multi-core benchmark . In terms of graphics, however, as already mentioned, the Pro models make the difference - an increase of 55 percent compared to the A14. The normal iPhone 13 is only 15 percent faster here.
