iOS 15.1 already announced: This is new in the iPhone update

Apple leaves nothing to be desired and announced the first service update to iOS 15.1 shortly after the release of iOS 15. But what's new in the iPhone update?

Shortly after the release of iOS 15, Apple is already distributing the first beta version of iOS 15.1 to paying developers. The first major service update for the new operating system is already in progress. As expected, not only iPhones but also iPads were thought of - iPadOS 15.1 was also announced (source: Apple).

iOS 15.1: New functions for iPhone and iPad

What's new in the iPhone and iPad update? Aside from the expected bug fixes, features were found that Apple promised us for iOS 15, but have so far been withheld. In detail:

Integration of SharePlay: With this, users can listen to music together with Apple Music via FaceTime. The same works with TV shows and movies from Apple TV + and other streaming services. Particularly clever: your own screen can be shared - useful for assistance and more. Evidence of vaccination directly in Apple's wallet: Less interesting for us in this country, because only so-called "SMART Health Cards" are supported in the USA. However, German users can use a trick. Announce a call: is a new icon in the settings. Lossless Audio and Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio: The HomePod 15.1 Beta adds support for the HomePod and HomePod mini.

SharePlay was originally announced for iOS 15, as you can see in the video , but now comes with iOS 15.1:

Possible release date of iOS 15.1

It is not yet possible to foresee when the iOS 15.1 update will be completed. But a look back provides clues:

iOS 14: September 16, 2020, iOS 14.1: October 20, 2020 iOS 13: September 19, 2019, iOS 13.1: September 24, 2019 iOS 12: September 17, 2018, iOS 12.1: October 30, 2018 iOS 11: 19. September 2017, iOS 11.1: October 31, 2017 iOS 10: September 13, 2016, iOS 10.1: October 24, 2016

With the exception of iOS 13.1, the first major update was actually always released in mid-October . So we can probably expect about a month until the release of iOS 15.1.
