iCloud Price - Cost of the Mac, iPhone, and iPad Cloud

iCloud Price - Cost of the Mac, iPhone, and iPad Cloud

The iCloud can be ideally connected to the iPhone, iPad or Mac. That and a competitive pricing make them attractive to Apple fans. xiaomist lists the prices for the iCloud and explains what you get for your money.

5 gigabytes of storage space in the iCloud are free if you log in with an Apple ID. If you need more space, you have to pay! Until recently, 1 terabyte of storage cost 9.99 euros per month. Since June 2017 you get twice as much iCloud space for the money. However, this only applies to the most expensive offer. So what do you have to pay for the upgrades?

iCloud costs at a glance

There are four different "storage plans" in iCloud. Initially everyone uses the basic option, which offers 5 gigabytes of free storage space. With that you usually don't even create an iCloud backup. And even with 50 gigabytes you won't get very far if you have a cell phone with 64, 128 or more gigabytes of memory.

iCloud cost storage plan

Here is an overview of the possible iCloud prices

Storage space Price per month 5 GB Free of charge 50 GB 0.99 euros 200 GB 2.99 euros 2 TB (2,000 gigabytes) 9.99 euros

At first glance it looks like the offer with the 2 terabytes of storage space in the iCloud is clearly too big. But you have to keep in mind that iCloud is not only aimed at cell phone users. You can use it to back up a Mac in the cloud!

The large package is also worthwhile for other reasons: You can now share the paid storage space with friends and family as part of a "family sharing". And then, for example, you and your partner have 1 terabyte each available and you only pay just under 10 euros per month for it.

Are the iCloud prices worthwhile in comparison?

Cloud storage is available in small doses for free, but it gets expensive when you need more. It's worth making a comparison. If we assume the most expensive Apple offer, then the iCloud costs for 2 terabytes of storage space are 9.99 euros per month. The iCloud is supported by many iOS and Mac programs, which not all other cloud providers can say about themselves.

With monthly billing, here are a few comparisons to the iCloud costs:

Provider and storage in a comparable subscription Monthly costs iCloud - 2 terabytes € 9.99 = € 119.88 / year Dropbox - 2 terabytes € 11.99 (with annual payment: € 119.88) Google One / Google Drive - 2 terabytes 9 .99 € (with annual payment: 99.99 €) Microsoft OneDrive - 1 terabyte 7.00 € (arithmetically 14.00 euros for 2 TB)

The offer from Google One (Google Drive) is still available in much larger packages of up to 20 terabytes and you can also share them with several people. Microsoft combines its cloud offering with a Microsoft 365 package. An office suite is also included here. However, the "Single" offer only includes 1 terabyte of storage space. There are 6 terabytes for this if you book the "Family" package for 10 euros a month.

In terms of price and in view of the integration into iPhone and iPad, you will get away well with the iCloud prices. There is also an iCloud client for Windows and various backup programs also support it, so it is actually worth considering a subscription to iCloud storage - especially since you can cancel these subscriptions on a monthly basis.
