Huawei: New smartphones are real value for money

Huawei has finally presented new smartphones with the Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro. Both models are in the upper middle class and offer a surprisingly good price-performance ratio. In detail, however, it shows that Huawei really has problems.

Huawei Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro want to conquer the middle class

The Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro are in the middle class in terms of price and processor, but some features have been taken over from high-end smartphones (source: Huawei). The Snapdragon 778G from Qualcomm is used in each case, which means that the phones compete against the Galaxy A52s.

Visually, the two Nova 9 smartphones are much more impressive than those from Samsung. Dual-edge displays are used that have a resolution of 6.72 and 6.57 inches with FHD + and support 120 Hz. The fingerprint sensor is integrated in the display. There is also 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage.

With the Nova 9, a single 32 MP camera is integrated in the display, with the Nova 9 Pro a dual camera with 32 MP is used. You get a super wide angle here to be able to take group selfies. On the back there is a 50 MP camera with technologies from the Huawei P40 Pro .

A highlight of the Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro are the fast charging technologies. Huawei charges the 4,300 mAh battery of the Nova 9 with 66 watts, while the 4,000 mAh battery of the Nova 9 Pro with 100 watts is filled from 0 to 100 percent in just a few minutes. HarmonyOS 2.0 is used as the operating system.

Huawei Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro: The prices are convincing

For the Nova 9, Huawei in China only wants 2,699 yuan in the smallest configuration. That is the equivalent of just 356 euros . The Huawei Nova 9 Pro comes to 3,499 yuan, which corresponds to 461 euros. The Galaxy A52 series from Samsung costs that much, only Huawei has more hardware for it.

It is currently unclear whether and when the Nova 9 smartphones will come to Germany. Without Google services and a 5G modem, Huawei smartphones would hardly have a chance here. The new phones clearly show that Huawei is not giving up and Honor should develop very similar smartphones, which will then probably come to Germany and be equipped with Google apps. So it could be something else.
