HarmonyOS: Huawei surpasses itself
Now everything is happening in rapid succession. HarmonyOS is spreading as an alternative to Android on devices faster than Huawei expected. The new operating system did in just two days what previously took several weeks.
HarmonyOS on over 90 million devices
It took Huawei only two days to go from 70 million to 90 million devices with HarmonyOS. We recently reported on the success of the Chinese company. Within 15 days, they made the jump from 50 to 70 million. Now the time for the next 20 million has been massively shortened (source: GizChina). The goal of reaching 100 million devices is within reach. By the end of 2021 it should even be 300 million .
The rapid increase in devices with HarmonyOS is not due to new products that appear with the operating system, but to a different strategy of the Chinese manufacturer. Over 100 devices, some of which are already several years under their belt, are updated to HarmonyOS. While Huawei would not have offered Android updates for such mobile phones, they are now even distributing a completely new operating system with additional functions .
What exactly triggered the jump from 70 to 90 million is not known. The update from Android to HarmonyOS is still only possible in China . In Germany, with the Huawei Watch 3 Pro and the MatePad 11, only a few devices with the new operating system are sold.
In the video we show you the new Huawei operating system HarmonyOS:
When will HarmonyOS appear as an update in Germany?
Huawei has so far been silent about when the countless Android smartphones in Germany will be offered an update to HarmonyOS. It is clear that not only Huawei but also Honor devices will be updated.
Whether the upgrade is really worthwhile in Germany is another question. If you need Google services from an older model, probably not. If, on the other hand, you have a new model that comes without Google services anyway , HarmonyOS is definitely a good alternative to Android.
