{Disarmed} Xiaomi: BSI starts investigation
Investigations against the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi are now also being carried out in Germany. The Chinese manufacturer had only been counted a few days ago by the Lithuanian government because they apparently "censor" terms at will. Xiaomi had therefore wish to speak and give a statement issued .
It was heard from Lithuania that the Deputy Defense Minister there was recommending to his compatriots "not to buy new Chinese cell phones and to get rid of those that have already been bought as soon as possible." Not a good advertisement for Xiaomi. But in Lithuania you are hardly represented anyway, so it is not that bad if you are counted there.
But now the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) is stepping in in Germany and has initiated its own investigations. Exactly why was not revealed, but the fact that there is an investigation was confirmed by the BSI press spokesman to the German press agency.
The Lithuanian authorities had taken a closer look at the Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G and found that it was possible to censor certain content on the built-in web browser. The censorship filter was not active, but could have been activated at any time. It is quite possible that the BSI will now take a closer look at the device in this country too.
