Sony is filing a lawsuit against Huawei over the Watch GT series of smartwatches. Sony Interactive does not want Huawei to use the term "Gran Turismo". The fact that one is a game and the other is a smartwatch should certainly make the decision easier for the judges.

Huawei has released several Watch GT series wearables over the years. The name "GT" refers to the Gran Turismo racing cars known for their high performance and luxurious appearance. And apparently Sony thinks that "GT" seems to be theirs only.

Sony is apparently of the opinion that there is a likelihood of confusion. Which is complete nonsense. Sony could have sued all automakers who use such an abbreviation on their models. And this should already show that Sony has no prospect of success in this lawsuit.

In 2016, Sony Interactive first appealed, then in 2019 the company again appealed against the trademarks registered by Huawei. A remarkable detail; During this time, both the Huawei Watch GT and the Watch GT2 were launched. In August this year, Sony filed a new lawsuit.

For Sony there should be problems to prove a possible likelihood of confusion. Because Huawei did not have the term "GT" protected, but always "Watch GTx", which should hardly lead to confusion.
