{Disarmed} Samsung Galaxy S22: First benchmark confirms Exynos 2200 SoC with AMD GPU
A first benchmark entry for the Samsung Galaxy S22 + confirms a number of previous reports. Most importantly, the Exynos processor is actually equipped with an AMD GPU. And that is surely the news everyone has been waiting for.
For some time now, reports have been circulating that Samsung and AMD are collaborating on the next generation GPU of Exynos processors. To be precise, Samsung plans to use the RDNA2 GPU for the Exynos 2200. The Geekbench benchmark now provides the first "proof" of this.
A Samsung phone with the model number SM-S906B can be found there in the database. We have known about this for some time that the Galaxy S22 + is. Inside is Samsung's S5E9925 motherboard, and that is the model code of the Exynos 2200 processor.
The SM-G906B is therefore not only equipped with the Exynos 2200, but Geekbench reveals even more details. We see that the GPU actually identifies itself as AMD and runs on an "AMD Open Driver". The CPU itself is an Octa-Core-Soc with 4 economical cores, 3 faster cores and 1 "extra fast" core. Furthermore, the tested Galaxy S22 + has 8 GB of RAM on board and runs with Android 12.
