{Disarmed} Huawei Watch D: A smartwatch with medical functions
Huawei has released several smartwatches over the years. The latest watches are the Huawei Watch 3 and the Watch 3 Pro. These are the first smartwatches from Huawei to run with its own HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system.
Nu a new trademark registration surfaced. Huawei may be planning a new type of smartwatch with various health functions such as heart rate, blood pressure and body fat monitors. This new smartwatch will be named Huawei Watch D.
On September 10, 2021, Huawei Technologies registered a trademark for a "Watch D" with the European Union Intellectual Property Organization (EUIPO). The application is categorized as Class 9/10/14, with the following description:
"Smartwatches; Wrist watches; Apparatus for use in medical analysis; Heart rate monitoring; Body fat monitors; Blood pressure monitors "
European Union Intellectual Property Organization (EUIPO)
The name "Watch" speaks for itself, but it is unclear what the letter "D" stands for. Huawei has introduced several Watch GT models in the past and has been inspired by the automotive industry. The name GT therefore stands for "Gran Turismo". Huawei also has the Watch Fit in its range.
Huawei does not currently have a smartwatch with a blood pressure monitor in its range. However, earlier this year there were rumors that the company was developing a smartwatch with a blood pressure monitor.
