{Disarmed} Google Pixel 6 Pro comes with groundbreaking new camera features
For a few weeks, the xda-developers seem to have been supplied with plenty of information about the upcoming Google Pixel 6 Pro. The source appears to already have a working device. And thanks to the information from the anonymous source, more and more details of the Pixel 6 Pro are known even before the start.
Now we get a glimpse into the camera of the Google Pixel 6 Pro. And Google seems to be planning some groundbreaking new camera features. There will probably be a lot more than the standard equipment suggests. However, the information is not yet official, so it should still be treated with caution.
Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro camera hardware
Google Pixel 6
- 50 MP Samsung GN1 main camera
- 12 MP Sony IMX386 ultra wide angle
- 8 MP selfie camera
Google Pixel 6 Pro
- 50 MP Samsung GN1 main camera
- 12 MP Sony IMX386 ultra wide angle
- 48 MP Sony IMX586 telephoto with 4x zoom
- 12 MP Sony IMX663 selfie camera
The phones will have built-in different selfie camera hardware. The Pixel 6 Pro will have an ultra-wide-angle lens on the front, while the Pixel 6 will have a standard wide-angle lens built in.
Camera features
Here is a quick overview of what the xda-developers found:
- Video recording quality: It looks like the main camera lens on the Pixel 6 series can record 4K video at 60 frames per second. However, the wide angle and telephoto lenses are limited to 4K at 30fps.
- Seamless recording: by setting all three lenses to 4K30, it is possible that you can seamlessly switch from one lens to another without interrupting the recording.
- Video zoom: The maximum zoom level when recording with 4K60 or 1080p60 is supposedly 7x. When recording with 4K30 or 1080p30, zoom levels of up to 20x are allegedly possible.
- Manual white balance: You could have more control over the white balance of your recordings. However, it is unclear whether this is a developer role for the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro cameras.
- mijia Eraser: It is possible that Google has revived its plans to bring object erasure into its products. It said it would do this within Google Photos, but it never happened. Maybe this will be a Pixel 6 exclusivity?
- Face Deblur: Google has already confirmed this feature is coming, but the Pixel 6 Pro's code backs up the announcement. As the name suggests, this would help clean up blurry faces in your shots.
- Bluetooth microphone: It is possible that you can use a Bluetooth connected microphone when recording videos. The evidence for this is still shaky at the moment.
