Goodbye to 64 GB of minimum storage: the iPhone 13 will have models of up to 1 TB, according to Ming-Chi Kuo

There are practically hours left for the official presentation and the rumors of the iPhone 13 do not stop emerging. The analyst Ming-Chi Kuo now brings a new one related to the storage of the device: they go up a notch, thus abandoning the minimum storage of 64 GB and now reaching 1 TB of maximum capacity.

As much as we can store content in the cloud, local storage is still essential on devices like the iPhone. This is due to how Apple syncs the content, not allowing it to be removed from the device without also being removed from the cloud. 64 GB seems to be that they are no longer enough for Apple, which will now raise the most basic models of the iPhone 13 to a minimum of 128 GB.

Recall that two "normal" iPhone 13 models and two Pro models are expected . The first two will have, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, versions of 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. On the other hand, the Pro models will start with 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB of storage. This is something that has been seen in previous rumors, although never in such a solid way and from someone with such a successful record as Ming-Chi Kuo.

Currently Apple offers 1 TB of storage (in addition to computers with SSDs) only on the iPad Pro . For a few years Apple jumped to 1 TB of maximum storage for these devices, with the latest generation doubling that to 2 TB. On the other hand, the last time we saw 16GB of minimum storage was on the iPhone 6s.

New AirPods 3 to accompany the iPhone 13

In addition to the new storage figures, Ming-Chi Kuo has also given clues about another device that we will see in Apple's keynote this next Tuesday. This is the AirPods 3 wireless earbuds . The third generation will probably debut during the keynote and according to the analyst it will be sold alongside the AirPods 2 on the market, thus offering the user the opportunity to purchase both versions. This means that either the AirPods 2 will lower their current price or the AirPods 3 will be more expensive.

Regarding what they will bring, the AirPods 3 are expected to come with a renewed design where they look a bit more like the AirPods Pro without the long stick. Mind you, no active noise cancellation or passive noise cancellation pads . Regarding the AirPods Pro, Kuo doesn't expect updates until next year. We'll see if this and all of the above is true this coming Tuesday at Apple's keynote.
