In July last year, Xiaomi introduced a new health tracking program called Mi Health. At launch, the program was very simple and included only a few features; Including step counting, sleep monitoring and menstrual cycle tracking. Now, with the arrival of MIUI 12, Xiaomi has introduced several new features. These features include a more accurate step counter and new sleep tracking features. Xiaomi has now added the ability to monitor your heart rate using a smartphone camera.
To use this feature, you must open a new "Pulse" section in the app. Then click the button in the lower right corner. On the next screen, you will be asked to completely cover the camera and flash with your finger. As soon as this is done, the device starts measuring the pulse and you have to keep your finger in a fixed position until the scale reaches 100%.
When done, the program will ask you to select the type of statistics displayed in a pop-up window. This window will contain three options; General condition, rest, and after exercise. You must select one of the three options based on your current status and click the View Report button in the popup window to see your current heart rate. The test report includes a heart rate and an image that shows your pulse is slow, normal, or fast.
This new feature will be added in version 2.7.4 of the Mi Health app, and most users should receive this update in the coming days.
