Official: Samsung Developer Conference 2020 has been canceled

For the first time in five years, Samsung won't open the doors to its annual developer conference.

Samsung has now confirmed its decision to cancel this year's event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, efforts are still being made to find ways to keep the developer community informed of future developments and important news and updates.

Samsung's official announcement on the matter reads:

"We are disappointed that we will not be hosting the event this year and that we will not have the opportunity to contact you directly. Our top priority is the health and safety of our employees, the developer community, our partners and the local communities [...]. "

The company doesn't give any other potential reasons for its decision to cancel the Samsung Developer Conference 2020, but there may be more to it than meets the eye.

COVID-19 is an abundant cause for concern for businesses around the world, and the SDC20 isn't the first major technology event to be canceled this year.

Just as true, however, is that Samsung's services are largely unchanged from last year, both in terms of popularity and functionality. So nothing really happened in the past year.

Bixby didn't really get any further development in the last year and all of Samsung's key hardware was already revealed at the recent UNPACKED events.
