The Huawei Developer Conference 2020 is in full swing and there is a lot to report. This also applies to the number of smartphones sold.
HarmonyOS 2.0 is here and should replace Android on most (or maybe all?) New Huawei smartphones from 2021 . Furthermore, EMUI 11 was presented, which, strangely enough, is not yet based on the new Android 11 .
But back to the sales figures. Huawei itself knew that this year it will not be able to match the 240 million smartphones sold from the previous year. The US ban is beginning to make itself felt. And extreme production declines are expected for 2021.
Nevertheless, the now reported 105 million smartphones sold in the first quarter of 2020 are not a stick-out. But the second half of the year is unlikely to be that good anymore. Still, Huawei hopes to ship 200 million devices this year.
