Roomba is learning new tricks. He ll clean under the table after dinner and won t drive into the dog bowl
Soon, autonomous vacuum cleaners from the Roomba series will become a bit smarter. Thanks to the iRobot Genius platform, they will be able to order them to clean up chips scattered in front of the TV.
iRobot offers many different vacuum cleaners from the Roomba family. These older and cheaper models analyze the environment in real time each time they are launched, but the newer and more expensive models are able to create and update the map of the house or apartment on a regular basis.

Due to the fact that a digital model of the apartment is created in the memory of iRobot devices, the user can now order selected Roombs to clean only e.g. the kitchen or bedroom. In addition, over time, vacuum cleaners learn how to overcome the more difficult obstacles in their path. However, the producer decided to go a step further.
Roomba with a new generation artificial intelligence, i.e. iRobot Genius.
Thanks to the new platform, users will be able to give their robots personalized cleaning orders only for a specific place. So you will not have to fire up Roomba as usual when cleaning the entire apartment to get rid of the chips that have been accidentally crushed in front of the TV.

This was achieved by redesigning the iRobot Home application and updating it with a new module called iRobot Genius. It is from this program that iRobot customers will be able to give their vacuum cleaners much more precise commands than before.
The new version of the iRobot application for Roomba robots will be available in Polish.
Cleaning instructions will be issued based on the user's habits and personal preferences. The company's representatives argue that "artificial intelligence must break free from the limits of autonomy and become a real partner in everyday duties."

This step will give users more control over cleaning, including the ability to send the robot to a specific location. Importantly, not only buyers of completely new devices, but also owners of Roomba i7 / i7 +, Roomba s9 / s9 + cleaning robots and Braava jet m6 mopping robot will benefit from it.
Vacuum cleaners will use machine learning to detect and suggest cleaning zones to focus on.
Smart Maps created by the robot is not the end, because everyone will be able to designate a cleaning zone on which Roomba should focus more. The robot may also notice itself that it is worth focusing on the area of the couch and table, where crumbs often fall, and then it will suggest cleaning the living room on a Friday evening or the kitchen after a meal.

The command to clean the zones - whether automatically detected or self-created - can be issued manually from the application or, for example, via a voice assistant. In addition, Roomba robots will now try to clean themselves when we are not at home and will politely return to their place when we return home.
IRobot cleaning robots will also be able to independently detect areas in which they should not venture, such as, for example, around the bowls of our four-legged friends. In addition, selected Roombs will adjust the cleaning mode seasonally, taking into account, for example, the allergy of the household and the molting of animals.

Users will also be able to decide for themselves in which other situations the vacuum cleaner should be activated, as the iRobot Genius is compatible with the IFTTT service. The application will also allow you to conveniently operate other smart devices in the home, such as e.g. smart thermostats, sockets or locks, from one place.
