Imagine batteries charged once in several dozen years. Madness? They will be powered by nuclear waste
NDB, a startup in the energy industry, says it is getting closer to developing technology to create batteries powered by nuclear waste.
It's even better, company officials say tests conducted at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the University of Cambridge show that the batteries already hold 40 percent of their charge. When the technology is refined, the batteries will be able to last from a decade to even 28,000 years, which would be an absolute revolution in the energy world. If it were possible, of course.
In a fairly detailed article published in New Atlas , NDB representatives - to put it mildly - are not afraid of bold claims. The nano-diamond batteries created by the company are to emit less radiation than the human body, will not be dangerous in the event of a collision of a powered car, and they are to cost less than lithium-ion batteries. NDB is convinced that the cells can be produced in any form, also as classic AA batteries.

Imagine such a battery in your smartphone. Imagine a world where you wouldn't have to charge your phone all day. Now imagine you don't have to charge it for a week, a month ... How about decades? With this technology, it will be possible, says Neel Naicker, a spokesman for NDB .
Simply put, the company's claims sound far too good to be true. If the technology turned out to be real, it would be a real revolution.
In the case of electric cars, we assume that our batteries would not have to be charged for 90 years, says Nima Golsharifi, CEO at NDB.
