So we have 5G in Poland in the network of all four operators already, but ...

PLN 75 a month at Orange is not an offer that would suggest that the operator is interested in popularizing the new generation of networks. The operator presented such an offer of his # hello5G last week and, as on the realities of the Polish market, it is simply expensive. For now, none of the operators care about it being universally and cheaply.

There is anything cheaper at Play than at Orange, but 55 PLN is also well above average prices that we pay for mobile services in Poland. Plus, until August this year, its 5G offers under all current - cheaper and more expensive - subscriptions, but everything indicates that then the prices will be similar to those already known to us from Orange. Although T-Mobile also currently offers 5G to every subscriber, try to quickly and easily find its offer of devices supporting 5G. Of course they are, but they are carefully buried.

So some are trying to make extra money on the new technology, others may not necessarily count on profits, but they prefer not to brag too much about it. I understand the more cautious - today excessive bragging with new technology threatens to disappoint the most avid enthusiasts.

The most trivial reason is the 5G territorial coverage.

At the start of the new technology it can not be otherwise. Implementation means costs and every operator leads it from areas where it gives him the greatest benefits - it relieves the network or increases sales of services. We also had to wait a few years for the nationwide coverage of UMTS and LTE.

Another reason is the technical quality of what we call 5G today - especially on the Playa, Orange and T-Mobile networks. The operators did not get new radio frequencies under 5G, so they decided to launch the technology in the already used band. In this situation, there is no reason for miracles.

- Today 5G can realistically achieve LTE quality with frequency aggregation - the manager of one of the mobile networks told me honestly.

Apart from the wonderful 5G, the display should not count on much more than we already have. Probably because, although 5G offers are rather expensive, none of the operators has an idea to take extra money for them (with the exception of Orange in cheaper plans for companies).

It will sound like surreptitious advertising, but today the best chance for real 5G comfort is in the Plus network, which has launched the technology in a completely new frequency range. Other operators will not receive new band until next year (after all, the 5G auction has already been canceled). However, because Play also has 5G and Plus has launched them, the other two also decided that they must. As a result, we have 5G in Poland, but it is a bit bad.

Each new generation of mobile technologies is primarily and above all, new and larger resources of radio frequencies. The tap is flying faster and faster, because more and thicker pipes are being connected. You can turn up the pressure a bit on an already used pipe, but that won't change much. You can also give a nice new bulb on such a tube and many will go for it. This is the way we are, and our consumer choices are not only driven by iron logic. And thank god.

From the operators' point of view, it is wiser to delete a little more for 5G from the biggest enthusiasts than to promise pears on a willow to a mass customer. A luxury strategy for the chosen is more sensible today. But don't worry - in a year or two it will be a good for the masses.
