OnePlus 8T series should get 64 MP camera

Earlier this week, OnePlus launched the Nord , its first mid-range smartphone since the OnePlus X, which came out in 2015.

Now, however, the manufacturer is focusing on the upcoming OnePlus 8T series, which will probably come on the market sometime in September. An analysis of the latest version of the OnePlus camera app (v5.4.23) by xda-developers showed that the company is working on adding 64 MP photo support.

Since OnePlus does not currently offer a phone with a 64 MP primary camera, it is likely that it will add 64 MP support for its upcoming flagship phones. As can be seen from the strings discovered in the OnePlus camera application, the 64 MP mode will allow users to take "higher resolution images in well-lit scenes".

However, for a better dynamic range, the camera app will recommend users to switch to 16 MP mode. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, which have a 48 MP main sensor, take 12 MP images as standard. In addition, the strings showed that the burst capture function is not available when using the 64 MP mode.

The xda developers have also found a reference to a new color option "Gray Ash" for the OnePlus Nord, which is included in the latest OxygenOS builds.
