Volkswagen reaffirmed today that the order phase for the VW ID.3 will begin on June 17. But this is not the series models, but the 1st edition, which is limited to 30,000 models-
The VW ID.3 has been in production for months. The so-called 1st edition is to be delivered as a special edition of the new model to the first 30,000 customers. In total there should be 3 model variants of the electric car. However, all three have the same 58 kWh battery and an electric motor with 200 PS installed on the rear axle.
VW ID.3 1st Edition model variants
- The basic equipment of the ID.3 1st costs less than 40,000 euros in Germany and includes a navigation system, a DAB + digital radio, an air conditioning system "Air Care Climatronic" with 2-zone temperature control, seat and steering wheel heating, front armrests, quick charging with 100 kW direct current ( DC) or 11 kW AC (AC) as well as 18-inch alloy wheels. Light Assist, natural voice control and ID. light in the interior and much more are standard on board.
- The ID.3 1st Plus (less than 46,000 euros) also has a reversing camera and the keyless entry system "Keyless Advanced". Inside, the ID.3 1st Plus also has a center console that is equipped with two additional USB-C ports at the rear. The exterior includes tinted windows, the exterior style package in silver, LED matrix headlights, LED rear lights with dynamic wiping function and 19-inch alloy wheels.
- The top version, the ID.3 1st Max for less than 50,000 euros, also includes the augmented reality head-up display (AR), two additional speakers, a large panoramic roof and 20-inch light-alloy wheels. There is also the "Travel Assist" driver assistant, including "Side Assist" and "Emergency Assist", as well as the "Comfort" telephone interface with inductive charging. The ID.3 1st Max is rounded off by comfortable seats including electrical adjustment of the front seats with massage function.
But the "early adopters" unfortunately have a problem. Because if you want to have a VW ID.3 first, you first have to do without 2 features. Because the software is still not completely finished.
VW ID.3 software not yet finished
So you have to keep waiting. The missing App Connect features and the remote area of the head-up display should not be ready until early 2021. These should then be submitted as an update.
If you do not want to strike right away and prefer to wait until autumn, you will get the VW ID.3 with all the features. It is a bit strange, however, that VW will not give the buyers of the 1st edition the feature until the beginning of 2021.
The series version of the VW ID.3 should then be available for order from August. However, the price is still missing here. However, the vehicles should then be delivered from September. If there are no further difficulties. The VW ID.3 already shows that Volkswagen may have been a little too optimistic.
