If this is the longest-tested update in the history of Windows 10, look like fate protect us from quick updates. For many users, not many things work for this level of quality to be acceptable.
Time to learn two lessons. First of all, just because it works for me doesn't mean that it works for everyone. Secondly, the duration of beta testing alone does not solve all problems - it is important to conduct them properly. There have been far more catastrophic Windows updates than the last one, but the number of detected and annoying errors is at least compromising for Microsoft.
Is your printer not working? Windows 10 2004 can even suspend an entire application when it invokes the print function.
You click on print and nothing happens? Then you are lucky. For some, like me, the printer works. Others after the print order see no effect - though if they carefully analyzed what was actually going on in the system, they would see a failure of the printer applet. Sometimes, however, the entire application from which we want to print can hang. Microsoft has confirmed the problem, the patch solving it is reportedly being tested.
Are you serious about managing partitions in mass storage? Error. Zeal can cost you data loss.
Windows 10 2004 has a serious flaw in the Storage Space function, i.e. in the Microsoft software tool for creating RAID arrays. Many users after the upgrade lost the ability to create a new Storage Space - the system informs about the parameter error (whatever it means) and closes the tool. This is embarrassing because beta testers caught this error as part of the Windows Insider program and reported it to Microsoft. As you can see, no effect. A temporary solution is to use the PowerShell version tool.
Unfortunately, the problem is sometimes more serious. There are threads on the reddit reporting data loss. At this point, the user complains that Windows 10 2004 has damaged one of the ReFS partitions. Others follow him, complaining about damaged files in the matrix. In addition, the memory defragmentation tool does not remember the actions performed, all the time maintaining that it has not been started for a long time.
Refreshing the system just doesn't work. At least nothing breaks ...
One of the lesser-known new features in Windows 10 2004 is the Start over feature. It differs significantly by restoring the system and the device to factory settings - it is faster and less complicated. It only refreshes the system itself, leaving user data intact. I can only take my word - this function does not work on my computer either. There is no control to launch it. The problem was reported during beta testing last December.
Do you have a notebook It only seems like this to you. Windows thinks you have a tablet.
Another strange bug in the new Windows that breaks the system's automatic switch to tablet mode. Windows 10 2004 some users insist that we use the tablet all the time. Although it smoothly switches between PC and tablet mode when it comes to the Start Menu - but still forces the tablet appearance of the application with enlarged touch controls.
Windows 10 2004 teaches us the concept of infinity. On the example of graphics driver updates.
Windows Update reports the availability of driver updates for Intel graphics cards? That's cool, they've definitely improved a lot - let's apply it. After restarting the computer we will see a prompt about the same update. And again. And so over and over again until we let it go. Fortunately, this bug is quite minor and causes nothing but irritation. We can also fix it on our own: the Troubleshoot tool contains the Windows Update section and after it is applied everything returns to normal.
Work on Windows 10 2004 ended in December. Since then, the system has only been tested and patched. This is a joke.
Microsoft cannot even test Windows 10 for acceptable quality for up to 5 months without adding any features. For me - probably like most of you - these problems do not occur, but so what? Something very bad is going on with the Windows Insider program and no major changes are needed. The current situation is unacceptable.
This Windows 10 update is a disgrace. Some cannot print, others lose data
