The World Photography Organization announced the results of one of the world's largest and most prestigious photography competitions. I invite you to a real feast for the eye.
This year's final of the Sony World Photography Awards took place completely differently than in previous years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sony has abandoned the final gala, hundreds of guests from around the world and dozens of high-profile names of the photo world. And although the finale was not as solemn as usual, it does not detract from the photographs, which, as usual, maintain the highest level.
The Photographer of the Year title and the prize of 25,000 dollars. received Pablo Albarenga from Uruguay for the Seeds of Resistance series. We also got to know the names of ten winners and second and third place winners in individual categories of the professional competition, as well as the winners of the open, student and youth competitions.

Seeds of Resistance is a collection of works whose author collates landscape photos of areas threatened by the development of mining and industrial agriculture with portraits of activists fighting to save their lands.
- This year's winner submitted his cycle in the category "Creativity" and showed poignantly how deforestation goes hand in hand with the destruction of communities and people - comments Mike Trow, chairman of the jury of the professional competition. The assessment of this year's work was a challenge. There were plenty of extraordinary stories and image collections that could win the grand prize, but the Seeds of Resistance series was truly outstanding. Pablo comes from Uruguay and has a very personal relationship with this project. The effort put into planning, preparing and taking photos for this series deserves praise by all means.
