Summer is coming, so it was full of insects. This year, however, the invasion of small creatures will not be limited to gardens, balconies and hostile invasions to the kitchens - we will soon invite them to the dining room table. At least Kaufland has this hope.
The network introduces insect products to its stores in Poland. On our native store shelves we will find bars, snacks, bread and meals, thanks to which we will be able to make original falafel or bake spaghetti bolognese with insects. There is no sausage from insects, but willing people can try to make it yourself from what they buy in Kaufland.
Insects in Kaufland are an ecological alternative to meat
More and more stores are setting up vegetarian corners, eco shelves or meat replacement stands. The appearance of insects in them, even as part of shy experiments, was actually a matter of time. Eating insects has many benefits. These are foods with a high content of protein, potassium, fiber, vitamins and saturated acids. At the same time, its production is not associated with as much greenhouse gas emissions as meat production and requires much less space. The UN counts on the fact that promoting the consumption of insects and at least partially giving up meat for them could significantly reduce the problem of hunger in the world. Although the inhabitants of various corners of our globe have been eating insects for a long time, for most residents of our regions, insect munching is a challenge, and not just a culinary one.
On a beautiful and sunny weekend, Poles will definitely go out to the gardens to indulge in grilling, gossiping and sipping drinks with different alcohol content. Maybe this time instead of chips, crisps or prunes on the table as a snack for beer put grilled cricket and insect bread, and for the main course propose a falafel made of insect flour?
Food from insects will be available in 29 Kaufland stores scattered all over Poland - in Gdańsk, Gdynia, Kraków, Legionowo, Łódź, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, Piaseczno, Poznań, Szczecin, Warsaw, Wołomin and Wrocław.
