Another phishing attack is gaining momentum. Poles get text messages from scammers claiming to be InPost.
Do you want to pick up a package? Download our new application. Inside you will find not only the desired code, but also a small additional surprise.
Fraudsters impersonate InPost .
According to the danger, scammers send SMSes to telephones all over Poland suggesting that we will not receive a parcel collection code if we do not download the company's new application. In the message, of course, there is a link from which you can download it. This leads to a fraudster-based site encouraging you to download a crafted program. If we get caught, the scammers will have access to our SMSes, which can be extremely troublesome not only in the case of more spicy messages from a neighbor, but also our SMS correspondence with the bank.
Also a popular scam for an additional zloty for the shipment has its coronavirus version. In it, the package is not too heavy, but she got into quarantine, the cost of which is PLN 1 with pennies. The customer whose vigilance is dormant by the low value of the transfer, and suspicion by the constant changes in the restrictions being introduced and withdrawn, therefore goes to the false page for transfers and shares with the fraudsters their bank login details.
Phishing may look naïve, but sometimes a bad day is all you need to catch it.
It's also worth having somewhere in the back of your head that almost anyone can be fooled by phishing. Sometimes rush, worse day, sudden drop of alertness caused by fatigue or distraction are all you need. The strange sender of the InPost message may not be so obvious after a long day of work. You can not pay attention to the suspicious website address when the eyelids stick to us.
That is why it is worth remembering that it is never worth downloading applications from suspicious sources, and if large companies ask us, we should almost always have a red warning light above our head. Google and Apple may not be great at eliminating the dangers lurking in their stores, but they significantly reduce them. If we play downloading products from outside of them, let's have full confidence in the source.
Fraudsters pretend to be InPost and try to convince us to install a malicious application
