The closer to the premiere, the more CD Projekt RED employees speak more and more openly about their new game. Thanks to this, we know that Cyberpunk 2077 will have three times more ways to accomplish the mission than The Witcher 3 offered them.
There is no doubt that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most ambitious role-playing games in the history of the video game industry. The main plot itself provides fun for several dozen hours, and there are numerous optional quests and side activities. Developers from CD Projekt RED are aware, however, that their last game was not perfect, but they learn from their mistakes.
The next presentation of Cyberpunk 2077 has been moved , but the proof that the creators were not deaf to constructive criticism from fans is the podcast series organized by the German GameStar magazine. As part of the program, Polish programmers shared new information about their game. According to Eurogamer , the most important curiosities hulled from this conversation about the upcoming production were collected in one place by the Reddit user nickname Moraez.
Thanks to this, we know that Cyberpunk 2077 is not to serve us tasks artificially extending the game time.
One of the biggest problems of The Witcher 3 was, paradoxically, too much optional content. Players who are unable to start the main storyline until they look under each stone and solve all side quests have been distracted by dozens of question marks on the map. Unfortunately, rarely, especially at a later stage of the game, after reaching the place indicated on the map there was something useful.
CD Projekt RED is aware that many players want to discover all the secrets and it is with them that there will be fewer things like this in Cyberpunk 2077. There will also be no repetitive tasks, such as investigations using the Witcher senses. Instead, the company will focus on typical, non-linear quests. In their case, we can count on three times more roads leading to the destination than in The Witcher 3.
So I am very happy that the tasks in Cyberpunk 2077 will also not be able to screw up completely.
The creators of the game from CD Projekt RED decided that the need to load the previous game state should occur only when the player's avatar dies. The story is to take into account the mistakes and mistakes and develop further regardless of them, and the scenario should adapt to even the stupidest decisions of the player, if he still manages to get out of the cabala in which he got himself, on his own.
I only hope that immersion will not suffer, but this is not expected. Developers do not want to impose rigid frameworks on us, such as blocking the area we can move around or the number of people we can talk to, and the residents of Night City, and more specifically the routine activities they perform, are to be programmed manually, not through a script generator.
In addition, we can count on improvements in the melee combat system. The developers emphasize that what we saw in the trailers is not their last word. As for the level designs, a similar leap will take place here as when comparing The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 2. Will it really be, and we will find out the moment, as the premiere of Cyberpunk 2077 will take place on September 17, 2020.
